Two Pitchers Team Up As Kenowa Hills Shuts Out Thornapple Kellogg

Kenowa Hills defeated Thornapple Kellogg 2-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout.  The pitching was strong on both sides. Kenowa Hills pitchers struck out 15, while Thornapple Kellogg pitchers sat down four.

Justin Stulpe got the start for the Knights, the righthander surrendered zero runs on three hits over five innings, striking out ten.

Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity collected seven hits in the first game. Stulpe and Evan Breuker each had multiple hits for the Knights. Stulpe went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity in hits.

 

Big Fourth Inning Propels Kenowa Hills In Win Over Thornapple Kellogg

Kenowa Hills  defeated Thornapple Kellogg 9-2 in 5 innings in the second game on Tuesday thanks to a timely five runs in a big fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by the Knights was led by Nick ThayerTrevin Laming, and Evan Breuker, all driving in runs in the inning.

Kenowa Hills got on the board in the first inning when Gibson Ouellette drove in three when Ouellette doubled.  Kenowa Hills then tallied five runs in the fourth inning. ThayerLaming, and Breuker all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Ouellette was on the pitcher's mound for the Knights. The lefthander lasted two innings, allowing one hit and one run while striking out three.  Joey Klap then came in relief of Ouellette and pitched the final 3 innings giving up just one run on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 5.  Garbrecht was on the hill for Thornapple Kellogg. The pitcher allowed one hit and five runs over three innings, striking out two. Dipert threw two innings out of the bullpen.

OuelletteLamingJoey KlapThayer, and Jaiden Acker each collected one hit to lead Kenowa Hills in the win.
