Kenowa Hills Baseball and Mona Shores Split (4-5, 16-6)  a Double Header Saturday

In the first game, Kenowa Hills fought back after falling down by four runs in the seventh inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 5-4 defeat to Mona Shores. Kenowa Hills scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Dylan Nguyen and a single by Justin Stulpe.  Kenowa Hills opened up scoring in the first inning, when Trevin Laming hit a 2-0 pitch off the top of the left field fence for a double and then eventually scored on a wild pitch.  In the top of the third inning, Mona Shores tied things up at one when Mark Konecny hit a solo homer.

Jaxon Huffman led things off on the hill for Mona Shores. The hurler went six and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out 15.  Evan Breuker was on the pitcher's mound for Kenowa Hills. The lefty lasted two innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero. Trevin Laming and Nguyen entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and two innings respectively.

LamingNguyenJoey HysellStulpeJaiden AckerNolan Thayer, and Gibson Ouellette each collected one hit to lead Kenowa Hills.  Mona Shores racked up nine hits in the game. Mason Brunworth and Bryson Belanger all had multiple hits for Mona Shores. 

In the second game, Kenowa Hills took the lead late in the game in a 16-6 victory. The game was tied at five with Kenowa Hills batting in the bottom of the fourth when Jack Kubiak hit a grand slam on a 2-0 count, scoring four runs.  Kenowa Hills earned the victory despite allowing Mona Shores to score four runs in the first inning. Mona Shores big bats were led by Aaron PiaseckiDiego PenaJaxon Huffman, and Javanni Johnson, all knocking in runs in the inning.  After Mona Shores scored one run in the top of the fifth, the Knights answered with one of their own. Mona Shores scored when Johnson hit a solo homer. Kenowa Hills then answered when Joey Hysell doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Kenowa Hills pulled away for good with nine runs in the fourth inning. Justin Stulpe singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Evan Breuker singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, Hysell doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Dylan Nguyen doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Ouellette led things off on the pitcher's mound for Kenowa Hills pitching three innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out one. Joey Hysell threw the final 3 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits.  Trevor Cunningham led things off on the hill for Mona Shores. The bulldog lasted three and a third innings, allowing nine hits and six runs. Landen Thalman threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Kenowa Hills scattered 18 hits in the game. StulpeOuelletteNolan ThayerBreukerHysellNguyen, and Trevin Laming all had multiple hits for  the Knights. Stulpe led the way with three hits in five at bats.  Mona Shores racked up nine hits in the game. Mark Konecny and Johnson each racked up multiple hits for Mona Shores.
