GREENVILLE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 1
Kenowa Hills Varsity Soccer has done something that hasn't been done since 2014, they finally got a 3rd win during their season. After a no win season in 2015 and graduating a full line-up of seniors, the average grade of a starter for the 2016 season was between 9th and 10th. With a new coach in 2016 and essentially a new team, they were able to work together and build a new soccer culture defined by hard-work and discipline. That 2016 season they received two wins with their young squad and in 2017 repeated the same record with great improvement showing in the team and individual statistics.
Fast-forward to September 10th, 2018, the knight's record was 2-4 and that night, were hoping to get their 3rd win of the season as they faced off against Greenville. The game started out slow with each team testing the strength of the other, desperately not trying to concede the first goal. However, with a free-kick from Bode Schuitema that landed at the feet of Elvin Mendez, the Knight's found the back of the net 10 minutes into the game giving them the lead 1-0. This score held up until the second half where Kenowa finally found their footing and took off scoring 5 more goals and conceding only 1 to Greenville. The final score of the game was 6-1. Kenowa Varsity Soccer got their 3rd win. Goals for the game came from Elvin Mendez (2), Caleb Hodgkinson, Aaron Ramirez, Bode Schuitema, and Conner Glaz.
