The Knights defended their home field with a pair of wins on a wind blown Saturday to win the Kenowa Hills Invitational Tournament. Kenowa Hills defeated Greenville in the first game 4-1 on the backs of good pitching performances from Gibson Sposaro and Brock Borkowski. The pair combined to give up just one run while striking out 10 in the 7 innings of work. The Knights offense was lead by Gabe Schoenborn with 2 hits and an RBI, Tristan Hysell with a hit and 2 RBIs and Evan Brueker who added an RBI.
Kenowa Hills had to dig their way out of a 5-0 deficit in the final with Hysell pitching the final 3 and 2/3 innings for the win, striking out 4 while only allowing 1 run. The bats came alive as 4 Knights (Breuker, Hysell, Schoenborn, and Sposaro) accumulated 2 hits each. Borkowski and Breuker adding 2 Runs each, and Hysell, Schoenborn, Jack Kubiak, and Luke McNamara all collecting RBIs. Kenowa Hills ended up winning the game in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off bunt by Evan Breuker. The game was tied at seven with nobody out and runners on first and second when Brueker stepped to the plate in the bottom of the eighth. While laying down a sacrifice bunt East Kentwood made a costly error and Gabe Schoenborn was able to score all the way from second base to seal the victory for Kenowa Hills (7-3).
