Kenowa Baseball team traveled to Portage Northern this weekend to play against some of the best teams in the state. In the first game the Knight fell short after leading for the first 4 innings behind a great pitching effort from Junior Tristan Hysell (5.2 innings, 2ER). The Knights held a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the 5th when Edwardsburg scored a couple of runs on a 2 out single to tie the score 3-3 going into the 6th. The Eddies then added 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take a 7-3 lead into the final inning. The Knights fought back and scored a pair of runs on a bases loaded HBP from Gibson Sposaro and an RBI groundout from Evan Breuker. With 2 outs and runners on second and 3rd Brock Borkowski hit a screaming line drive down the left field line that hooked just foul and then was not able to get a hit after that which ended a well fought game for the Knights. Sposaro ended the game leading the Knights in hitting going 3 for 3 on the day, and Borkowski lead the team with a pair of RBIs.
The bats struggled in the second game against Holt as the Knights fell 3-1 in the conciliation game. A combined pitching effort from Gabe Schoenborn and Matt Kirby only gave up 3 Runs but Kenowa Hills couldn't capitalize at the plate in front of a solid defensive effort from Holt, leaving 4 runners in scoring position and hitting into 3 double plays. The Knights offense was lead by Evan Breuker going 2-3 and Luke Henderson scoring the only run for the Knights.
