Kenowa Hills opened the 3 game series with South Christian at Home this week.
Kenowa Hills Takes The Win Over South Christian in the opener.
Kenowa Hills wins contest against South Christian on Tuesday, 5-1. The Knights Varsity opened up scoring in the second inning. Nick Thayer grounded out, scoring one run.
South Christian evened things up at one in the top of the third inning. But Kenowa Hills pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Thayer singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run and Nolan Thayer singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Justin Stulpe got the start for Kenowa Hills. The pitcher surrendered one run on two hits over six and a third innings, striking out eight. Alex Vostad led things off on the mound for South Christian. The hurler allowed four hits and five runs over six innings, striking out five and walking one.
Joey Hysell led Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity with two hits in three at bats.
Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity Sets The Stage For Victory With Early Lead Over South Christian
Kenowa Hills Knights jumped out to an early lead over South Christian and took home an 11-4 victory on Thursday after a delay because of darkness on Tuesday. Kenowa Hills scored on a single by Nick Thayer in the first inning and a error in the second inning. In the bottom of the first inning, Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity tied things up at one when Thayer singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. The Knights pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning.
Kenowa Hills Knights then scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by Trevin Laming and Evan Breuker.
Joey Klap toed the rubber for Kenowa Hills on Tuesday. The righthander went five innings, allowing two runs on four hits, striking out three and walking one. Trevin Laming picked up on Thursday for the Knights to close the game.
Jace DeMann was on the pitcher's mound for South Christian. The pitcher surrendered four runs on three hits over two and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Seth Rietsma and Cam Post entered the game as relief, throwing two and a third innings and one inning respectively.
Kenowa Hills racked up 11 hits in the game. Thayer and Laming each had multiple hits for the Knights. Thayer went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity in hits.
South Christian tallied eight hits on the day. Alex Vostad, Rietsma, and Ross Boomsma all managed multiple hits for South Christian.
