Kenowa Hills wins the KONA classic baseball tournament at Coopersville
In the opening game Two Kenowa Hills Knights Pitchers Rally Together In Shutout Victory Against Hopkins. Kenowa Hills defeated Hopkins 11-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Joey Klap started things off on the mound for the Knights throwing 4 innings while only throwing 29 pitches. Max Barrett struck out Rough to finish off the game.
In the first inning, Kenowa Hills got their offense started on Justin Stulpe's sac fly scored one run. The Knights scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Gerrit Nickel, Luke Hendricks, and Stulpe.
Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity totaled 15 hits. Evan Breuker, Stulpe, Trevin Laming, and Jaiden Acker all collected multiple hits for Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity. Laming, Stulpe, and Breuker each managed three hits to lead the Knights.
In the Championship game Kenowa Hills beat Coopersville 6-3
Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity put up four runs in the fourth inning. Gerrit Nickel, Trevin Laming, and Evan Breuker each had RBIs in the frame.
Breuker got the start for Kenowa Hills. The southpaw lasted one inning, allowing zero hits and zero runs while walking one. Kenowa Hills saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Laming and Breuker all had multiple hits for the Knights. Laming went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Kenowa Hills in hits.
The Knights Improve to 14-6 on the season.
