Kenowa Hills Baseball Sweeps a DH at Thornapple Kellog to improve to 9-0 in Conference Play.
In Game 1, Kenowa Hills had all cylinders firing on offense on Thursday, winning big over Thornapple Kellogg 11-1. The Knights opened up scoring in the first inning, when Evan Breuker singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.
Breuker took the win for Kenowa Hills. The pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out ten. Joey Hysell threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Snelling took the loss for Thornapple Kellogg. The hurler went five and a third innings, allowing 11 runs on 14 hits and striking out five.
The Knights collected 14 hits. Breuker, Max Barrett, Dylan Nguyen, and Trevin Laming each collected multiple hits for Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity. Breuker went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits.
More of the same in the seconds game as Kenowa Hills got things started in the second inning when Gibson Ouellette doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. The Knights put up four runs in the third inning.
Justin Stulpe was the winning pitcher for Kenowa Hills. The pitcher went three innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out three and walking one. Kaden Byrne threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Snyder took the loss for Thornapple Kellogg. The bulldog allowed 13 hits and 12 runs over seven innings, striking out six.
Kenowa Hills tallied 13 hits. Nolan Thayer, Hysell, and Trevin Laming each had multiple hits and Thayer led Kenowa Hills with three hits in four at bats. Kenowa Hills was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Thayer had the most chances in the field with nine.
