Kenowa Hills Baseball Wins the Annual KONA Tournament

The Knights improve to 13-0 (9-0) on the season with wins over Coopersville and Newaygo Saturday morning.  In the first game, Gibson Ouellette threw a shutout to lead Kenowa Hills past Coopersville 12-0.

Kenowa Hills got on the board in the first inning when Nolan Thayer was hit by a pitch, driving in a run. The Knights tallied five runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught came from an error on a ball put in play by Justin Stulpe and Luke Hendricks, a single by Ouellette, and a double by Trevin Laming.

Ouellette led the Kenowa Hills Knights to victory on the hill. The lefty went five innings, allowing zero runs on four hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Kenowa Hills  collected 11 hits. Evan BreukerJaiden Acker, and Laming all had multiple hits for the Knights.  LamingAcker, and Breuker each managed two hits.

Coopersville racked up four hits on the day. Near and Lemieux all managed multiple hits for Coopersville.

In the Championship game, An early lead helped Kenowa Hills defeat Newaygo 12-4 on Saturday. The Knights scored on a single by Evan Breuker in the first inning, a single by Max Barrett in the first inning, a triple by Jaiden Acker in the first inning.

Newaygo scored three runs in the third inning, but Kenowa Hills  still managed to pull out the victory. Newaygo scored its runs on a single by Russell Toth.

John Green got the win for Kenowa HillsGreen went three innings, allowing four runs on three hits, striking out six and walking one. Dylan Nguyen and Trevin Laming entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.  Glenn Toth started the game for Newaygo. The bulldog lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out two

Kenowa Hills totaled 15 hits. BarrettJustin StulpeGibson Ouellette, and Breuker all had multiple hits for the Knights. Stulpe and Barrett each collected three hits to lead Kenowa Hills.

Toth went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Newaygo in hits.
