Kenowa Hills Baseball Sweeps DH at South Christian

In the first game, Kenowa Hills ran off with the lead late in the game in an 8-1 victory over South Christian on Thursday. The game was tied at one with Kenowa Hills batting in the top of the fifth when Joey Hysell singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.  The Knights secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fifth inning. Kenowa Hills put the pressure on, lead by doubles by Jack Kubiak and Dylan Nguyen and a single by Hysell.  Kenowa Hills knotted the game up at one in the top of the fourth inning. Trevin Laming singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Evan Breuker got the win for Kenowa Hills. The southpaw allowed five hits and one unearned un over seven innings, striking out 12.  Seth Ritsema took the loss for South Christian. Ritsema surrendered three runs on five hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

The Knights collected nine hits. HysellBreuker, and Laming all managed multiple hits, Hysell led  the team with three hits in four at bats.  Aidan Fennema went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead South Christian in hits.

In the nightcap, Justin Stulpe shut down South Christian, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Kenowa Hills to a 8-0 victory on Thursday

Kenowa Hills  got on the board in the first inning. Stulpe grounded out, scoring one run. The Knights then notched three runs in the third inning. Kenowa Hills big bats in the inning were led by singles by Max Barrett and Trevin Laming. A single by Jace DeMann in the first inning was a positive for South Christian.

Stulpe  allowed two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out six. Reed Grinstern took the loss for South Christian. The pitcher surrendered six runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out two.

Kenowa Hills tallied ten hits. Dylan Nguyen and Laming all managed multiple hits for the Knights. . Kenowa Hills was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Nolan Thayer had the most chances in the field with six.
