KH Baseball Split a DH with Forest Hills Eastern
Kenowa HIlls (22-3; 16-1) and Forest Hills Eastern (25-2; 16-1) split the first two games in the 3 game series Tuesday night. They will play the 3rd game Thursday at Rockford's Art Van Complex at 4:15 for first place in the OK Gold. The first game saw Kenowa Hills defeat Forest Hills Eastern 7-3. The Knights got things started in the first inning with one run when Evan Breuker doubled home Justin Stulpe. Kenowa Hills pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning.
Breuker was the winning pitcher for Kenowa Hills. The pitcher surrendered three runs on five hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven. Trevin Laming threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Kuiper started the game for Forest Hills Eastern. The bulldog surrendered seven runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Iwan Sitalo threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Kenowa Hills scattered six hits in the game. Breuker and Joey Hysell both had two hits to lead the Knights.
Forest Hills Eastern saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Brian Messing, Mac DenBraber, and Collin Fridsma each managed multiple hits for Forest Hills Eastern.
The second game against Forest Hills Eastern was a heartbreaker for Kenowa Hills, as they lost the lead late in a 6-4 defeat. Forest Hills Eastern trailed 4-3 in the top of the seventh inning when Jacob Pallo singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Kenowa Hills got on the board in the first inning when Joey Hysell singled and Jaiden Acker had a two run Home Run in the first inning.
Pallo toed the rubber for Forest Hills Eastern. The hurler lasted six innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out three and walking zero. Justin Stulpe was on the pitcher's mound for Kenowa Hills. The righty allowed six hits and four runs over six innings, striking out six. Trevin Laming threw one inning in relief.
Hysell went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Kenowa Hills Knights Varsity in hits. Forest Hills Eastern racked up eight hits on the day. Pallo, Walker Brockie, and Caleb Kuiper each collected multiple hits for Forest Hills Eastern.
