The boys basketball program committed to playing in the annual Cornerstone University Holiday Tournament this season, and they battled tough even in being placed in arguably the toughest bracket.
On the 27th all three levels played one of the best programs in the area, Hudsonville, a school twice the size of Kenowa Hills. The Freshmen battled hard, being tied at half before falling double digits. The JV team hung tough all game, losing the game in the last few minutes. The varsity had a strong first half showing, staying in the game until mid-way through the 3rd quarter. Senior Hayden Curtis led the Knights with 12 points on 6 for 6 shooting.
On the 30th, all three levels played Coldwater, a highly respected program from southern Michigan, a school about the same size as Kenowa Hills. The freshmen and JV teams both played well winning by at least 20 points, bringing their records to 3-2 (FR) and 4-1 (JV) on the young season. The varsity hung tough but couldn't pull out the victory, losing 50-56. Senior Ryan Bart led the team with 15 points and 7 rebounds, earning all-tournament team honors. Sophomore Evan Breuker had his best varsity game of his career adding 13 points and 3 steals.
The varsity nights are 2-3 heading into the new year, with the varsity and JV teams hosting Potter's House on January 7th.
