The Kenowa Hills Varsity Volleyball Team played in their first quad of the season on Saturday, Sept. 20, taking on Hudsonville, Zeeland West, and Greenville. Against a strong Hudsonville squad, the Lady Knights fell 0-2. 100% servers against the Eagles were Rylee Cook, Olivia Granger, Anna Longcore, Laura Perrin, and McKenna Buehler. Leading the offense were Abby Chapman with 6 assists and Shelby Porter with 3 kills. The defense for the Lady Knights was led by Lily McCarthy with 9 digs; and Anna, Laura, and McKenna each collected 3 blocks.
In their match against Zeeland West, the Lady Knights played a great match but fell short 1-2. Serving up 3 aces was Olivia, and Lucy Jennette, Austin Van Putten, Abby, Anna, McKenna, and Olivia all served 100% during the match. Abby led the offense with 14 assists, and McKenna pounded the ball for 8 kills. Rylee dug up the ball 18 times, and McKenna stuffed the ball for 5 blocks.
Finishing up the day against Greenville, Kenowa Hills started strong but ended up losing 0-2 to the Yellow Jackets. Pacing the Lady Knights at the service line were Olivia and Abby with an ace each, and Lily, Austin, Anna, and McKenna all served 100% for the match. Austin set up the hitters for 7 assists, and Laura led with 4 kills. Rylee led the back court with 12 digs, and Anna added a block for the defense.
Kenowa Hills travels to Forest Hills Eastern on Tuesday to return to OK Gold conference play next week.
