The Kenowa Hills varsity volleyball team hosted a quad on Saturday, Oct. 4, with Hesperia, Allendale, and Comstock Park. In the opening match against Hesperia, the Lady Knights started strong with a 25-11 victory before dropping the next 2 close sets. Rylee Cook scored with 3 aces and Lucy Jennette added 1 while Austin Van Putten joined them in serving 100% for the match. Austin set the ball for 18 assists to Anna Longcore, who had 8 kills, and Laura Perrin, who added 5 kills for the Knights. Defensively, Lily McCarthy led the back court with 12 digs and Anna passed for 10 digs. Laura also dominated the net with 4 blocks for the host team.
In their match against Allendale the Lady Knights started slow but battled back, losing 1-2. At the service line Lily and Austin each scored with an ace, and Olivia Granger, Rylee, Lucy, Anna, and Austin all served 100%. Austin collected 20 assists while setting up Shelby Porter and Laura for 7 and 6 kills, respectively. Anna led in digs with 12, followed by Lily with 7. At the net, Lily led with 2 blocks for the Knights.
In the closing match against Comstock Park, the host Knights dominated with 25-17, 25-14 victories. Leading servers were Austin with 3 aces, closely followed by Anna with 2. Serving 100% were Rylee, Olivia, Austin, Anna, and Laura. Austin set the ball for 13 assists, and Shelby led hitters with 5 kills followed by Anna with 3. Rylee and Olivia each dug the ball up for Knights while Austin, Laura, and Shelby all added 2 blocks at the net.
The Lady Knights travel to Cedar Springs on Tuesday to close out the regular season in the OK Gold. Go Knights!
